DESCRIPTION:As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026\, Italian Capital of Culture\, citizens are invited to take part in “Inside Out – The People’s Art Project by JR\, “ the renowned participatory public art project conceived by French artist JR\, led by ArtsFor\, and supported by the City of L’Aquila. \nIn Piazza Regina Margherita from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.\, near Bottiglieria Lo Zio\, a team of photographers will take portraits of anyone who wants to participate in this Inside Out event. \nThe participants’ faces will then be transformed into large black-and-white posters and displayed in Piazza Duomo\, creating one of the largest collective works of art ever produced in L’Aquila: over 2\,000 portraits of residents of L’Aquila and the areas affected by the 2009 earthquake\, coming together to form a single\, grand visual narrative of identity and belonging. \nLending your face to the project means becoming part of an international movement active in 154 countries with over 500\,000 portraits collected\, and contributing to a work that belongs to the community and tells\, through the faces of its residents\, the history and future of the capital of Abruzzo. \nParticipation is free and open to everyone.

SUMMARY:All the Necessary Extravagance: "Schianti"
DESCRIPTION:“Schianti” is the story of a fantastical universe. Helix\, a girl from the suburbs of a dystopian metropolis\, fights alongside her group against the construction of the Hyper-Port\, yet another ecological disaster backed by the Empire. Meanwhile\, the skies are crisscrossed by airships coming from a distant island\, now almost completely submerged due to rising sea levels. Who will survive the crash?    \nMatteo Di Genova\, theater actor and spoken-word artist. Born in L’Aquila in 1989. Winner of the 5th edition of the A. Dubito Award\, the 2017 Poverarte Festival\, and third place at the 2021 European Poetry Slam Championships. He participates in the Zelig TV slam and performs at music festivals such as MiAmi\, GoaBoa\, and Pinewood. He tours Italy with his shows *Dixit*\, produced by Zoopalco in 2017\, and *Diossido di Cromo*\, produced by the Teatro Stabile d’Abruzzo and premiered in 2018 as part of the prestigious *I Cantieri dell’Immaginario* festival. In the book *Nati alle 3e32* (published by Round Robin in 2019)\, with forewords by Sabina Guzzanti and Diego “Zoro” Bianchi\, he recounts his experience with the hip-hop group Zona Rossa Krew in the immediate aftermath of the L’Aquila earthquake.  \nViola Margaglio is a performance poet and community psychologist. Born in Rome in 1993\, she grew up in Ostia\, balancing her artistic studies with activism and volunteer work. She has been active in the world of performance poetry since 2017. In 2019\, she founded the PoetryClan Ostia collective\, and from 2020 to 2023\, she served as the Lazio coordinator for the activities of LIPS—the Italian Poetry Slam League. In 2022\, she competed in the national finals of the LIPS championship. In addition to performing her own original spoken-word poetry\, she organizes and hosts slam poetry events and workshops. She works as a freelance psychologist with private clients and community organizations. Since 2024\, she has coordinated the psycho-educational program for the Alberto Dubito Poetry and Music Award. She is the author of “Youth Slam—A Tool for School and Community Psychology\,” forthcoming from Mille Gru in collaboration with LIPS.         \nDafne Rubini\, director\, coach\, and educator in the arts of expression. She directs indoor shows—including “Cioccolato All’Arancia” (winner of Roma ComicOff 2019) and “See Primark and Die!” by Claire Dowie with Martina Gatto—and outdoor shows—including “IN LOVE” and “Perdersi nel Bosco.”In 2012\, she founded Esosementi Ass. Cult.\, an organization dedicated to organizing cultural\, educational\, and performance events and activities. SUMMARY:ItARTS Festival - Back to L'Aquila: "Shared\," the installation
DESCRIPTION:SHARED Physical (Installation)\, curated by the “Alfredo Casella” Conservatory of Music and Academy of Fine Arts in L’Aquila\nSHARED VR\, a virtual reality experience curated by the Polytechnic University of Turin\nShared is an interactive musical-visual work that explores the boundary between man and machine. Gestures are transformed into sound and image by Artificial Intelligence\, in an experience that combines sculpture\, music\, and virtual reality.\nThe Polytechnic University of Turin brings its technological expertise to ItARTS with Shared VR\, a virtual reality performance adaptation of Michelangelo Lupone’s Shared that invites the audience to enter a shared auditory and visual environment—one that is constantly evolving and open to participants’ contributions. Wearing a VR headset\, each participant takes on a digital avatar with which they can explore the virtual space\, select and manipulate sound forms that—translated into light trajectories—give rise to ever-changing audiovisual landscapes. In this process\, gesture and listening become tools for collective creation. The generative core at the heart of the experience collects and transforms the contributions of those present: sounds and movements are absorbed\, reworked\, and rendered as new configurations\, creating a narrative flow that belongs not to a single individual but to the temporary community that\nforms within the work’s space.\nShared VR thus brings art\, technology\, and human sensibility into dialogue\, exploring the delicate balance between the individual and the collective\, between control and surrender\, and questioning the contemporary meaning of “sharing.”\nThroughout the Festival\, from stage to stage\, the results of user testing will guide the subsequent phases of the project. The final version will be unveiled at the conclusion of the ItArts Festival\, as the outcome of a research process that intertwines artistic\, scientific\, and technological approaches.

SUMMARY:Architectures for entertainment and performance yesterday and today
DESCRIPTION:The project intends to focus attention on particular categories of buildings that characterize the cities of Abruzzo and Lazio: entertainment buildings. This particular category of buildings\, since ancient times\, seems to have had a special role in society\, manifesting a particular relationship between the population and central and local power. The project includes in-depth and performative activities in ancient and modern entertainment buildings scattered between the provinces of L’Aquila and Rieti (amphitheater of Amiternum\, amphitheater of Trebula Mutuesca\, Flavio Vespasiano theater in Rieti) with particular interest in ancient female cults attested mainly in Luco dei Marsi\, S. Anatolia di Borgorose\, S. Angelo di Civitella di Pescorocchiano\, S. Vittoria di Carsoli\, the so-called Baths of Cotilia in Cittaducale\, S. Vittoria in Monteleone Sabino\, Lucus Feroniae in Capena.
