SUMMARY:LIGHTS ON THE ATLAS - Stories to Help You Start Over
DESCRIPTION:“Stories for a New Beginning” is a site-specific\, community-based theater project that transforms the landscape into a stage and the time of sunset into a shared moment of listening. Conceived and produced by Vesuvioteatro\, with artistic direction by Claudio Di Palma and artistic consultation by Giulio Baffi\, this eco-sustainable theater festival unfolds through traveling performances designed to engage intimately with sites of historical\, architectural\, and scenic value\, without resorting to invasive set designs\, electrical equipment\, or artificial amplification. Natural light and ambient sound become an integral part of the dramaturgy\, restoring to theater an essential\, poetic\, and deeply contemporary dimension. \nLIGHTS ON THE ATLAS\nFrom *Atlas of a Restless Man* by Christoph Ransmayr\nedited by Claudio Di Palma\nstarring Pasquale Aprile\, Rebecca Furfaro\, Federico Siano\, and Chiara Vitiello\nA Teatro Segreto Production\nin collaboration with the Austrian Cultural Forum in Rome \nThere are lights that seem to come from the sky but are actually born on earth. It is from this shift in perspective that *Lights on the Atlas* takes shape—a journey through four stories by Christoph Ransmayr in which wonder does not dwell in the heavens but occurs among people\, and the lights that seem cosmic reveal themselves to be human\, fragile\, and earthly. An invitation to gaze at the sky without ceasing to observe what is happening right beside us: because sometimes the true constellation is made up of shared gestures\, encounters\, and reflections. \nFREE ADMISSION ( In case of rain\, performances may be postponed) \nFOR MORE INFORMATION\nYou can message us on WhatsApp: 3335691511\nYou can send an email to: info@vesuvioteatro.org

SUMMARY:99 Songs Event | Zang\, Tumb\, Tumb
DESCRIPTION:As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026\, Italian Capital of Culture\, the event “99 Songs” —curated by Massimo Felici in collaboration with Claudio Mastracci and organizedby the Euterpe Music Association —presents Zang\, Tumb\, Tumb\, a concert-workshop that transforms the stage into a space of sounds\, ideas\, and visions\, paying homage to the artistic revolution of Futurism and the historical avant-garde movements of the 20th century. \nInspired by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti’s famous “Parolibero” poem\, the concert takes the audience on a journey through rhythm\, speed\, mechanics\, and experimentation with music by Francesco Balilla Pratella\, Franco Casavola\, Silvio Mix\, Luigi Russolo\, Daniele Lombardi\, George Antheil\, and Alexander Mosolov —pioneers of a radical transformation of musical language. Combining voice\, piano\, and electronics\, *Zang\, Tumb\, Tumb* conveys to the audience the full visionary and provocative power of Futurist aesthetics\, in a dialogue between music\, experimentation\, and modernity that continues to resonate with our times. \nLineup: Maka Dvali (soprano) · Stephanie Gurga (piano) · Gabriele Panico “Larssen” (electronics) \nFREE ADMISSION WHILE SEATS LAST

SUMMARY:Inside Out – The People's Art Project by JR | Installation in Piazza Duomo
DESCRIPTION:As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026\, Italian Capital of Culture \, “Inside Out – The People’s Art Project by JR”—the global initiative by French artist JR\, led by ArtsFor and supported by the City of L’Aquila—culminates in L’Aquila with a large-scale collective installation: over 2\,000 black-and-white portraits of residents of L’Aquila and the areas affected by the 2009 earthquake transform Piazza Duomo into an extraordinary participatory gallery\, a collective mosaic of faces\, stories\, and identities that unites the provincial capital\, surrounding municipalities\, mountains\, and inland areas into a single visual narrative. \nOn July 11\, from 10:00 p.m. to midnight\, the entire city is invited to Piazza Duomo for a major event featuring lights and music—open to everyone with free admission: the facades of the buildings in the square will come to life with a multi-projection of portraits and behind-the-scenes images\, accompanied by an original soundtrack\, in a visually striking and emotionally powerful narrative. A unique\, not-to-be-missed event in which L’Aquila’s most beautiful square becomes a stage for the entire community. \nThe installation remains open to the public until July 15. The project is part of the “L’Aquila città territorio” program as part of ReStart\, and is inspired by the overarching spirit of Inside Out\, an international movement founded by JR in 2011 that has carried out over 3\,000 collective projects in 154 countries and collected 590\,000 portraits. \nFREE ADMISSION

SUMMARY:I Am My Songs | Gaetano Curreri
DESCRIPTION:As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026—Italian Capital of Culture—and *I Cantieri dell’Immaginario*\, the “B. Barattelli” Concert Society of L’Aquila presents Io Sono le Mie Canzoni\, a show by Gaetano Curreri —the heart and soul of Stadio —accompanied on stage by Roberto Drovandi and Andrea Fornili\, longtime collaborators on an artistic journey spanning over forty years. \nA moving journey through the songs that have shaped entire generations: “Acqua e Sapone\, ” “Un giorno mi dirai\,” “Chiedi chi erano i Beatles\,” and many other tracks that have stood the test of time without losing their power or identity—all written by Curreri. Also on stage are a dance troupe and an ensemble of musicians in a production designed to highlight the full emotional power of a repertoire that is part of Italy’s collective memory. The show includes tributes to the great artists with whom Curreri has collaborated throughout his career— Lucio Dalla\, Vasco Rossi\, Patty Pravo\, Laura Pausini —and a particularly poignant moment dedicated to Giovanni Pezzoli\, his lifelong partner on stage. A bridge between generations underscored by recent collaborations with Gué and Tommaso Paradiso at the latest Sanremo Festival: a passing of the torch that demonstrates how Stadio’s sound is still alive\, relevant\, and a source of inspiration. \nTickets are available at www.ciaotickets.com.

Albums such as *Death Walks Behind You* and singles like “Tomorrow Night” and “Devil’s Answer” cemented their place on the international scene. Now a cult band in European progressive rock\, they’re returning to the stage led by singer Pete French and guitarist Steve Bolton —formerly of The Who and Paul Young—to bring to life the power and charm of a band that wrote pivotal chapters in rock history. \nLineup: Steve Bolton (guitar) · Adrian Gautre (keyboards) · Shug Millidge (bass) · Paul Everett (drums) \nTickets are available at www.vivaticket.com.

SUMMARY:Organ Improvisation on Historical Instruments | Martin Sturm for the 30th Organ and Early Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026\, Italian Capital of Culture\, the L’Aquila Concert Society “B. Barattelli” presents an extraordinarily rare event for the 30th edition of the Organ and Early Music Festival “Music and Architecture – Places of Time and Music”: German virtuoso Martin Sturm —organist\, composer\, professor\, and director of the Department of Sacred Music and Organ atthe Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar — brings the art of real-time organ improvisation to L’Aquila\, performing on both of the historic instruments at the Basilica of St. Bernardino of Siena. \nIn the first part of the concert\, Sturm performs his own *Missa per Organo* on the monumental 1726 organ by Feliciano Fedeli\, located on the counter-façade and considered one of the largest and best-preserved examples of 18th-century Italian organ architecture. In the second part\, he takes his place at the 1939 organ by Vincenzo Mascioni\, situated behind the High Altar: two historic voices from one of L’Aquila’s most significant and iconic basilicas\, in dialogue with the improvisational creativity of one of the most award-winning performers on the international scene\, winner of prestigious competitions and the Kulturpreis Bayern. \nThe event is organized in collaboration with the Order of Friars Minor\, the Archdiocese of L’Aquila\, and the Central Directorate for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior. \nFREE ADMISSION UNTIL ALL AVAILABLE SEATS ARE FILLED.

SUMMARY:TEXTURE | Textured Body
DESCRIPTION:As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026\, Italian Capital of Culture\, the e-Motion Group presents TEXTURE – Body in Weave\, a participatory dance project that creates a dialogue between bodily movement and the gestures of traditional Abruzzese weaving\, intertwining intangible heritage\, artisanal practices\, and contemporary forms of expression. \nThe project is based on a specific cultural premise: dance and weaving share the same fundamental dimensions—ecological\, communal\, rhythmic\, symbolic\, and narrative. In Abruzzo\, weaving is historically linked to pastoral life and transhumance: processing wool\, spinning it\, and weaving it were not merely productive necessities\, but daily acts imbued with symbolic and social meaning. TEXTURE revives this memory through the dancing body\, which absorbs its rhythms and reinterprets them as movement. \nThe workshops—led by the dancers of the e-Motion Group in collaboration with local craftswomen and weavers —are divided into four phases: an introduction to artisanal knowledge and weaving materials; physical interpretation of the gestures (weaving\, stretching\, repeating); improvisation as a space for freedom and reappropriation of the body; and a final public presentation open to the community\, in which bodies\, threads\, and fabrics interact in space through a participatory performance. \nINFO AND RESERVATIONS: info@gruppoemotion.net

SUMMARY:Safeguarding Cultural Heritage in Emergencies. The Evolution of Procedures for the Protection of Cultural Heritage.
DESCRIPTION:As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026\, Italian Capital of Culture\, the National Fire Department is organizing a conference in L’Aquila dedicated to the evolution of techniques and procedures for securing cultural heritage during emergencies\, with particular reference to the experience gained in the aftermath of the 2009 earthquake and the role of the Coordination Unit for Temporary Works (N.C.P.)\, established in the aftermath of the L’Aquila earthquake. \nThe conference\, aimed at engineers\, architects\, and technical professionals in the field\, analyzes the Corps’ response capabilities in managing structural issues and outlines the new\, optimized procedures for safeguarding the historical and artistic heritage. At the center of the discussion are the STOP data sheets—technical tools developed by the post-earthquake working group for the reinforcement of damaged buildings—which will be presented by some of the key figures involved in their development. \nSpeakers will include Stefano Grimaz\, holder of the UNESCO Chair in Intersectoral Safety for Risk Reduction at the University of Udine\, and provincial commanders Mauro Caciolai (Milan)\, Luca Ponticelli (Potenza)\, and Ciro Bolognese (Varese). A site visit to the National Museum of Abruzzo – MuNDA is planned to observe firsthand the results of the safety measures and post-earthquake reconstruction efforts. \nThe initiative reinforces L’Aquila’s role as a national center of expertise and best practices in the protection of cultural heritage during seismic emergencies.

SUMMARY:Mil flores amarillas | The Bowline for the 30th Organ and Early Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026\, Italian Capital of Culture\, the “B. Barattelli” Concert Society of L’Aquila presents the third event of the 30th edition of the Organ and Early Music Festival “Music and Architecture – Places of Time and Music\,” featuring the ensemble The Bowline\, founded in 2025 by Teodoro Baù —one of Italy’s leading experts on the viola da gamba—with Margherita Burattini on the harp\, Giulio Petrella on the viella\, and Paolo Del Toro on the harpsichord. \nThe program “Mil flores amarillas” (A Thousand Yellow Flowers) explores the art of diminution—that is\, the melodic embellishment typical of early performance practice: a living tradition that breaks down the fourth wall between past and present\, free-spirited and surprisingly relevant today. A central figure in the repertoire is Diego Ortiz da Toledo (1510–1570)\, author of the famous *Tratado de Glosas* (Rome\, 1553)\, whose *Recercados* are performed alongside instrumental reductions of vocal works such asthe six-voice*Alma Redemptoris Mater *. Rounding out the program are works by Antonio de Cabezón\, Diego Pisador\, and Juan Bautista Cabanilles\, all exponents of the Spanish Renaissance and contemporaries of Raffaello Sanzio—whose painting *The Visitation*\, commissioned by the Branconio family for the Church of San Silvestro in L’Aquila\, is arriving in L’Aquila these days after centuries. \nFREE ADMISSION WHILE SEATS LAST.

SUMMARY:Medieval Cities Festival – 4th Edition | Peace and War: Walls and Bridges
DESCRIPTION:As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026\, Italian Capital of Culture\, the Festival of Medieval Cities returns to L’Aquila for its fourth edition\, sponsoredby the University of L’Aquila and the City of L’Aquila\, and curated by Amedeo Feniello and Alfonso Forgione of the University’s Department of Human Sciences. \nThe theme “Peace and War: Walls and Bridges” invites us to reflect on one of the most profound tensions of the Middle Ages and the contemporary world: peace and war not as exceptional conditions\, but as structural dimensions of political\, social\, and cultural life. In this context\, walls and bridges emerge as powerful civic metaphors—defense and boundaries on the one hand\, and passage\, exchange\, and connection on the other. \nHistorians\, archaeologists\, art historians\, and economic historians engage in dialogue with journalists\, political scientists\, and artists in a program featuring thematic lectures\, “Dialogues” curated by Giovanni Carletti\, special lectures\, and ” Beyond the Middle Ages ” evenings featuring guests such as Lella Costa\, Dario Fabbri\, Franco Cardini\, and Anna Foa. The festival concludes with a special focus on the Fortifications of Abruzzo and the Walls of L’Aquila\, grounding the theme in the history and identity of the region. \nFOR MORE DETAILS\, DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL PROGRAM
