The term \u201cexoskeleton\u201d lends itself to different interpretations: zoological, cybernetic, and science-fiction. What they have in common, however, is their role in supporting, enhancing, protecting, and facilitating. Building on this reflection, we propose a project structured in several phases that highlights the potential role of the Academy of Fine Arts building in L\u2019Aquila as a catalyst for the urban revitalization of the surrounding area: 1) a series of artistic installations\u2014light-based, sculptural, and textual\u2014that interact with the exterior of the architectural \u201cbody\u201d and are visible even from a distance; 2) a marathon of artistic performances\u2014a 24-hour non-stop event hosted by the academy\u2019s theater and open to the general public free of charge; 3) a free evening music event, aimed primarily at a young audience; 4) a periodic, free film festival featuring thematically relevant films. <\/div>\n
It should also be noted that the outdoor installations will remain in place and on display until the conclusion of another major project in which our academy plays a leading role: the National Arts Award, which is being organized this year by the Academy of Fine Arts in L\u2019Aquila.<\/div>\n
Over the coming months, the academy\u2019s students, under the guidance of their faculty advisors, will design and create the various art installations that will enhance the building\u2019s exterior. The installation will be carried out by specialized contractors. <\/div>\n
The schedule of performances and other events\u2014ranging from musical performances to film festivals\u2014is currently being worked out with the participating organizations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
