At first you think things are going well\u2014it\u2019s just a puddle, a minor setback: one foot in front of the other, your incurable optimism, and you\u2019ll be out of it. But you find nothing solid beneath the sludge; you try to drag yourself along, but your body won\u2019t follow\u2014it\u2019s starting to let go. Oh no, dear body! We can\u2019t just give up like that! From the outside, everything\u2019s fine. Also because, aside from the cancer, I\u2019m doing just fine. The show blends drama and humor, depicting the journey of those living with the disease through an irreverent brand of comedy that helps break the silence. \u201cHere\u2019s the problem: when you\u2019re dealing with cancer, life becomes unbearable\u2014not so much because of the disease itself, but because your relationships become strained and fragile,\u201d revealing that the fear of the disease makes it difficult to be honest. \u201cBut it\u2019s not because we\u2019re bad people; it\u2019s just that we\u2019re scared and don\u2019t know how to do the one thing that can help us: tell each other what it\u2019s really like.\u201d Her tone is ironic yet sincere as she shares hilarious anecdotes, such as using cancer as an excuse to get out of boring evenings or the absurdity of discovering that mosquitoes don\u2019t bite during chemo.
