Its extremely small size and the presence of two devotional images suggest that the panel was intended for private devotion: it is plausible that the owner carried it with him, kept in a small cloth or leather case, using it as an aid for meditation and personal prayer. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>front<\/strong> depicts the<em>*Ecce Homo*<\/em>, Christ presented to the people after the flagellation. <strong>The reverse side<\/strong> depicts <strong>Saint Jerome<\/strong> kneeling in a desert landscape, praying before a small crucifix embedded in the rock.
