Roberto Bolle Opens the Cantieri dell’Immaginario: L’Aquila 2026 Becomes a Stage for International Dance

On July 4, 2026, the San Bernardino Steps will host the “Roberto Bolle and Friends” gala for the first time in Abruzzo.

A once-in-a-lifetime event that officially kicks off the Cantieri dell’Immaginario festival in the heart of Italy’s Capital of Culture. L’Aquila is getting ready to experience a magical night. On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the picturesque staircase of the Basilica of San Bernardino will host one of the most anticipated events of the entire year: the “Roberto Bolle and Friends” gala. For the first time in history, the Étoile of two worlds will bring his famous show to the capital of Abruzzo, officially inaugurating the Cantieri dell’Immaginario festival.

An exciting debut marking a new beginning

The event is not only a high-profile artistic occasion, but also a heartfelt tribute to the city. “This is the first time I’ve performed my Gala in L’Aquila and in Abruzzo,” says Roberto Bolle. “I’m deeply moved by this debut. L’Aquila has faced an extremely difficult ordeal and has responded with strength and vision, establishing itself as a symbol of rebirth.”
By bringing his dance to L’Aquila, Bolle aims to harmonize with the authentic energy of the place, celebrating the L’Aquila community’s ability to look to the future without forgetting its past.

Cantieri dell’Immaginario: The Beating Heart of Summer in L’Aquila

Roberto Bolle’s arrival marks the start of a rich and varied program —the Cantieri dell’Immaginario festival, directed by Maestro Leonardo DeAmicis. With over 35 events spanning theater, music, and dance, the festival reaffirms its status as one of the cornerstones of the programming for L’Aquila, Italy’s Capital of Culture 2026.
The gala—known to the general public as “the gala of galas”—will not be a one-off event, but a choreographic journey bringing together international dance stars, soloists, and leading performers from the world’s most prestigious companies. The program will range from the precision of the classical repertoire to contemporary experimentation, in a fusion of styles and techniques that promises to enchant a diverse audience.

A unique event for the Capital of Culture

Produced by ARTEDANZA SRL and brought to L’Aquila thanks to the efforts of the L’Etoile Association, led by Ornella Cerroni, the show serves as an international showcase for the region. The July 4 event not only transforms L’Aquila into a vast open-air stage but also cements the city’s status as a hub for major cultural events in Italy.
