The City Council has approved the establishment and bylaws of the support committee for the year in which L’Aquila will serve as the Italian Capital of Culture, named “Coordinamento per L’Aquila 2026 – Città Multiverso.”

The initiative will now be submitted to the City Council, which will be called upon to vote on the proposed resolution containing the City’s formal participation as a founding and promoting member.

The establishment of the committee is one of the key governance tools for the L’Aquila 2026 program, with the goal of supporting and co-financing artistic and cultural projects consistent with the bid dossier, promoting fundraising activities and to strengthen the involvement of the city’s economic and social community in preparation for next year’s event.

The Committee was established through a joint initiative of the City of L’Aquila, the National Association of Building Contractors (ANCE) of the Province of L’Aquila, and the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation, which are its founding members and promoters.

The bylaws provide for four categories of members: founding promoters, who are signatories to the articles of incorporation; founders, appointed by the board of directors from among public or private entities that contribute to the endowment fund with the same share as the founding promoters; supporting members, whether organizations or individuals; and ordinary members. The nonprofit committee will have an initial term of 18 months, which may be extended, but in no case beyond December 31, 2027.

The organization will work in collaboration with institutions and public and private entities, while ensuring that overall governance of the program, ownership of the project and ministerial funding, as well as ownership of and the right to use the “L’Aquila 2026” logo, remain with the City.
