A special stamp issue featuring the official logo of L’Aquila 2026 was unveiled at Palazzo Margherita. Mayor Biondi said, “This is an important sign of institutional recognition for our city.”

L’Aquila, Italy’s 2026 Capital of Culture, has reached a new, prestigious milestone of profound symbolic and institutional significance.The special stamp issue dedicated to L’Aquila 2026, featuring the official logo of the designation awarded by the Ministry of Culture, was officially unveiled this morning in the conference room of Palazzo Margherita.

The project was launched thanks to the collaboration between the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Poste Italiane, and the Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, and is part of the national promotion initiative currently underway in the city.

A symbol of remembrance and rebirth

“This stamp preserves and shares the memory, identity, and symbols of our community,” said the mayor of L’Aquila, Pierluigi Biondi, noting that the initiative continues the tradition of special postmarks dedicated to Pope Francis’ historic visit and the Jubilee of Celestine’s Pardon.

Undersecretary of State Fausta Bergamotto also expressed pride in a stamp issue that carries beyond national borders the image of “a community that has been able to transform difficulties into energy, rising from adversity to become a central part of the country’s cultural landscape.”

Collectible Items and Where to Find Them

To mark the occasion, Poste Italiane will produce special limited-edition folders and related philatelic products for collectors and enthusiasts. The special stamp is available in L’Aquila at the philatelic counter of the post office on Via della Crocetta, as well as at 12,000 post offices and nine “Spazio Filatelia” locations throughout Italy.
