“Stories for a New Beginning” is a site-specific, community-based theater project that transforms the landscape into a stage and the time of sunset into a shared moment of listening. Conceived and produced by Vesuvioteatro, with artistic direction by Claudio Di Palma and artistic consultation by Giulio Baffi, this eco-sustainable theater festival unfolds through traveling performances designed to engage intimately with sites of historical, architectural, and scenic value, without resorting to invasive set designs, electrical equipment, or artificial amplification. Natural light and ambient sound become an integral part of the dramaturgy, restoring to theater an essential, poetic, and deeply contemporary dimension.

A young man lost in the whirlwind of fleeing bodies, running to escape the police charge. A stubborn laborer who, for days, battles death to dig a tunnel six meters underground in search of the sewers. A father and son and their final games of bridge. A class of teenagers on the day they become men. Told in this way, these lives are a pure political manifestation—in the Greek sense of the term: that which concerns the common good—and imbued with raw, moving humanity. In this age of desperate loneliness, these four stories remind us of the urgency of putting our relationships with others back at the center. With others. And what better way to do that than through theater?
