Open Houses – Cultural Residences

28 June

On Sunday, June 28—as on every last Sunday of the month—” Open Palaces” returns – Cultural Residences: an invitation to step outside the city limits and rediscover L’Aquila through its historic palaces, noble residences, courtyards, and historic spaces that have contributed, over the centuries, to shaping the urban and social identity of the capital of Abruzzo.

In addition to venues that were already “sold out” on previous Sundays (such asthe Oratorio de Nardis and the splendid Palazzo Gaglioffi-Benedetti and Palazzo Alfieri), on June 28, the halls on the main floor of Palazzo Nardis will be included for the first time, where visitors will be able to view the exhibition “Uniforms, Decorations, and Documents on the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher,” curated by Paolo Giuliani and organized in memory of Baron Angelo de Nardis. Thanks to the generous cooperation of the Capuchin Friars Minor, visitors will also be able to access the ancient and precious Convent of Santa Chiara, a place of spirituality older than the city of L’Aquila itself.

The day will conclude with additional activities in historic buildings, thanks to collaborations with cultural organizations in L’Aquila: at 6:00 p.m., the Archeoclub L’Aquila will host the lecture “Aquila Angioina,” presented by Alessio Rotellini, in the Benedict XVI Hallof the Institute of Religious Sciences, located inthe historic Palazzo del Dottor Torquato de Nardis on Via San Marciano (reservations required via email at archeoclublaquila@gmail.com). At 9:00 p.m., the Euterpe Music Association will present the“Aires” concert in the picturesque setting of the courtyard of Palazzo Dragonetti ( on Via Santa Giusta), featuring Betty Garcés, soprano, and Antonia Valente, piano (music by Berg, Korngold, Lecuona, Villa-Lobos, and Montsalvatge. Free admission while seats last).
