I leave it to you to judge; throw stones if you wish
If I seem like a poet to you, stone me.
(Vittorio Alfieri, *Calascionata seconda*, 1775)
*Poemi Focomelici* is a collection of poems by Daniele Timpano,
, published in 2025 by CuePress.
A show is born from the collection.
An autobiography in verse: from a Christmas letter to his parents in 1980 to 2024; from the dawn of his career as an author and his first self-published collections of texts—circulated as carbon-copied typescripts distributed via photocopies between 1996 and 1998—through the endless array of poetic, theatrical, and literary—both completed and unfinished—all the way to the imploding political rage of the present and the evocation of a death that, if not imminent, is no longer so far off.
These *Poemi Focomelici* by Daniele Timpano are a carefully curated selection of poetic texts, arranged in chronological order; they constitute the unique poetic autobiography of a man—or rather, what remains of the author’s half-century of life and over forty years of compulsive writing.
They are “poems” (albeit “focomelic” ones), rhythms that attempt to become meter: perhaps lopsided, hypermetric, hypometric, or ametric, but meter nonetheless. A rhythm that is that of a stubborn thought caught in recursive ruminations; a flow of breath that stirs the body at the moment of speaking; a headless music that seems to have found its proper measure, perhaps, only in maniacal and endless rewritings and rereadings.
