All the Necessary Extravagance: “Schianti”

“Schianti” is the story of a fantastical universe. Helix, a girl from the suburbs of a dystopian metropolis, fights alongside her group against the construction of the Hyper-Port, yet another ecological disaster backed by the Empire. Meanwhile, the skies are crisscrossed by airships coming from a distant island, now almost completely submerged due to rising sea levels. Who will survive the crash?

Matteo Di Genova, theater actor and spoken-word artist. Born in L’Aquila in 1989. Winner of the 5th edition of the A. Dubito Award, the 2017 Poverarte Festival, and third place at the 2021 European Poetry Slam Championships. He participates in the Zelig TV slam and performs at music festivals such as MiAmi, GoaBoa, and Pinewood. He tours Italy with his shows *Dixit*, produced by Zoopalco in 2017, and *Diossido di Cromo*, produced by the Teatro Stabile d’Abruzzo and premiered in 2018 as part of the prestigious *I Cantieri dell’Immaginario* festival. In the book *Nati alle 3e32* (published by Round Robin in 2019), with forewords by Sabina Guzzanti and Diego “Zoro” Bianchi, he recounts his experience with the hip-hop group Zona Rossa Krew in the immediate aftermath of the L’Aquila earthquake.

Viola Margaglio is a performance poet and community psychologist. Born in Rome in 1993, she grew up in Ostia, balancing her artistic studies with activism and volunteer work. She has been active in the world of performance poetry since 2017. In 2019, she founded the PoetryClan Ostia collective, and from 2020 to 2023, she served as the Lazio coordinator for the activities of LIPS—the Italian Poetry Slam League. In 2022, she competed in the national finals of the LIPS championship. In addition to performing her own original spoken-word poetry, she organizes and hosts slam poetry events and workshops. She works as a freelance psychologist with private clients and community organizations. Since 2024, she has coordinated the psycho-educational program for the Alberto Dubito Poetry and Music Award. She is the author of “Youth Slam—A Tool for School and Community Psychology,” forthcoming from Mille Gru in collaboration with LIPS.

Dafne Rubini, director, coach, and educator in the arts of expression. She directs indoor shows—including “Cioccolato All’Arancia” (winner of Roma ComicOff 2019) and “See Primark and Die!” by Claire Dowie with Martina Gatto—and outdoor shows—including “IN LOVE” and “Perdersi nel Bosco.”In 2012, she founded Esosementi Ass. Cult., an organization dedicated to organizing cultural, educational, and performance events and activities. She coordinates the Department of Youth Culture at the Teatro del Lido in Ostia.
