“99 Songs” Event | The Abruzzo Masters of the Romanza in Naples Between the 19th and 20th Centuries
As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026, Italian Capital of Culture, the event “99 Songs” —organizedby the Euterpe Music Association —offers a journey through 19th- and 20th-century chamber romance, highlighting the deep artistic bond between Abruzzo and Naples, one of the most important European musical centers of the time.
The program showcases the works of Abruzzo composers such as Leoncavallo, Braga, Dell’Orefice, and Tosti, who were able to blend the great Italian melodic tradition with a refined expressive sensibility. Through the voices of soprano Maria Chiara Chizzoni and tenor Francesco Marsiglia, accompanied by Guido Galterio on piano, the chamber romance is brought to life in its most poetic and intense form, offering the audience a musical heritage of great value that encompasses historical memory, regional identity, and melodic beauty.
