The project aims to organize a series of conferences focusing specifically on the founding cities of the Apennine region of central Italy (including L’Aquila, Leonessa, Cittaducale, and Cittareale), with in-depth analyses of the historical, legal, economic, and commercial contexts within which these cities were founded. A concluding workshop will focus on contemporary urban planning issues. To round out the lecture series, the project plans to organize a program of guided tours of the towns covered, with a special focus on lesser-known towns, in order to promote the growth and diversification of tourist flows along more niche itineraries.
