Habitat Artist Residences – “To Speak Is to Create. How Can We Build a Lexicon of Dreams Together?” by Sara Ricciardi
L’Aquila, Italy’s 2026 Capital of Culture, is transforming into an open-air studio. In May, renowned designer Sara Ricciardi will choose our city for an artist residency that blends design, art, and storytelling. This is not merely a visit, but a journey of exploration in which objects, colors, and shapes become the language for exploring the emotions and collective imagination of a vibrant community.
The residency opens its doors to the public with a series of workshops and creative gatherings scheduled for May 22–24: a unique opportunity to experience the artistic process up close, exchange ideas, and collaborate on the creation of a new urban vision. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the research will explore the fine line between function and symbolism, between the irony of everyday life and the depth of a poetic gesture.
The project will culminate in a site-specific visual installation that will take root in the streets of L’Aquila, transforming public space into a museum of the imagination. Participating means actively contributing to this narrative, leaving a tangible mark on our city’s cultural landscape. An open invitation to everyone: let yourself be inspired by form as it becomes story.
