Music and Architecture – Places of Time and Music | 30th Organ and Early Music Festival

As part of the program for L’Aquila 2026, Italian Capital of Culture, the “B. Barattelli” Concert Society of L’Aquila kicks off the 30th edition of the Organ and Early Music Festival with a concert dedicated to sonatas, toccatas, and cantatas from the Italian and European Baroque periods.
The star of the evening is soprano Lucia Casagrande Raffi, one of Italy’s most active performers of opera and chamber music repertoire, accompanied by three musicians from L’Aquila: violinist Federico Cardilli, cellist Giulio Ferretti, and organist Ettore Maria Del Romano. The program ranges from the instrumental sonatas and toccatas of Corelli, Vivaldi, and Mascitti to the cantatas of Bach, Giordani, and Handel.
The concert will take place atthe Oratory of Sant’Antonio dei Cavalieri de Nardis, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture in L’Aquila, which houses one of Italy’s most precious original and fully functional instruments:the organ built by Luca Neri in 1650. The venue is not merely a backdrop for the event, but an integral part of the musical experience, embodying that dialogue between sound, history, and architecture that is the very soul of the entire festival.
Admission is free while seats are available.
