The Aquilani Soloists & Mario Brunello
An exceptional event for L’Aquila 2026: renowned cellist Mario Brunello, the first European winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition, joins I Solisti Aquilani in the dual role of soloist and conductor. The program, titled“The Romantic Cello and the Voices of the East,” spans different eras and sensibilities, beginning with the lyricism of Franz Schubert—featuring the Overture D8 and the famous “Arpeggione” Sonata — and moving on to the intense, 20th-century atmospheres of Mieczysław Weinberg, whose Concertino, Op. 43 bis, and Sinfonietta No. 2.
An internationally renowned artistic collaboration that brings together Brunello’s sound exploration with the chamber music excellence of L’Aquila, celebrating music as a universal language of rebirth and beauty in the heart of Italy’s Capital of Culture.
