A new production by the Teatro Stabile d’Abruzzo in collaboration with Alt Academy Produzioni, written and directed by Ariele Vincenti, who will also appear on stage alongside Francesco Cassibba, Vincenzo Tosetto, Sarah Nicolucci, and Giacomo Rasetti, with music and sound design by Tiziano Gialloreto and set design by Alex Chiti.

The work intertwines“Grand History” with the personal stories of four miners, meticulously reconstructing their journey from Italian train stations to Belgium, where they faced extremely harsh living conditions in quarters converted from former concentration camps and grueling shifts a thousand meters underground. The narrative stands out for its original staging, in which the mining environment becomes an active protagonist thanks to a complex soundscape composed of the clatter of mine cars, dust, and the whinnying of horses, transforming the toil of the underground into pure theatrical poetry. Through this visual and auditory language, the production pays tribute to the 262 victims of the fire on August 8, 1956—136 of whom were Italian immigrants—transforming the memory of a tragic workplace accident into a collective ritual of reflection and hope for the community of L’Aquila.
