On April 6, 2026, the Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio in L’Aquila will host a concert of sacred music and a moment of reflection and shared remembrance to mark the anniversary of the 2009 earthquake.
The event will feature the Pontifical Sistine Chapel Choir, the Pope’s choir and the oldest in the world still in active service, which for over fifteen centuries has been the guardian of a musical, cultural, and spiritual heritage of extraordinary value.
The concert, narrated by Daniele Pecci and conducted by Maestro Leonardo De Amicis, weaves together music and spoken word in an experience of listening and reflection.
The event, part of the program for L’Aquila, Italian Capital of Culture 2026, represents a moment of remembrance and participation for the city, with an eye toward the future.
