Nanakorobi Yaoki “Fall seven times, get up the eighth”
Presentation of the project “Nanakorobi Yaoki: Fall Seven Times, Get Up the Eighth,” featuring the opening of the exhibition “Imagining the Invisible” by Fabio Massimo Fioravanti, in the presence of Giorgio Amitrano, professor of Japanese Language and Literature at the University of Naples – L’Orientale.
The exhibition features a selection of photographs of NŌ theater by Fabio Massimo Fioravanti, alongside 40 ukiyo-e prints by Tsukioka Kogyo (on display for the first time in Italy), created between the 19th and 20th centuries, NŌ masks by artist Keiko Udaka, along with several stage costumes and fans, and the shimai (short dance) performed by shite and shihan Monique Arnaud.
The Nanakorobi Yaoki project—“Fall Seven Times, Get Up the Eighth”—is divided into two phases: the first, from May 16 to June 20, is dedicated to Noh theater; the second, from July 2 to September 4, is dedicated to contemporary Japanese visual art, featuring the works of Shu Takahashi.
